LENSES

At Focus Eye Clinic we recognise that there is a different lens solution for every glasses wearer. We offer a wide range of lens options to suit the specific visual and cosmetic needs of our patients. Our expert dispensers will recommend the best lens option tailored to your visual & lifestyle requirements.

ANTI REFLECTIVE LENSES

Improves both your vision through your lenses and the appearance of your glasses. Reduces glare for night driving and computer use. Reduces reflections from the surface of the lens giving a nicer cosmetic appearance and clearer vision. At Focus Eye Clinic our anti reflection lenses incorporate a scratch resistant coating which makes the lenses harder wearing so less likely to scratch.

PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES

Photochromic or Reactor lenses react to changes in light conditions giving you more comfortable vision. Indoors the lenses are clear and outdoors they darken to reduce glare from the sun and provide protection from UV rays. Photochromatic lenses are available in grey or brown for almost every prescription including bifocal and varifocals. Ask in-store about the latest ‘Extra Active’ lenses which also darken in the car unlike traditional photochromic lenses.

THIN & LIGHT LENSES

Lenses can me made thinner and lighter using high-index materials and are ideal for high prescriptions. Thin and light lenses improve the appearance of your glasses and make them more comfortable to wear as they are lighter in weight. Thin & light lenses allow those with high prescriptions to choose from a wider range of modern frames and are available on most single vision, bifocal and varifocal prescriptions.

HARD CLEAR COATING

The clear coating is applied to the front and rear surface of the lens and is most commonly known as a scratch resistant coating. This makes the lens more hard wearing to general wear & tear and less likely to scratch so prolonging the life of the lens.

TINTED & POLARISED LENSES

Transform your look with prescription tinted lenses which can be made into hundreds of different frame styles. A range colours and tinting depth allows for your own unique look as well as reduced glare and clearer vision in bright conditions. Tints can also be made graduated, so very dark at the top of the lens to clear at the bottom. UV protection can also be included with tinted lenses.

Polarised Lenses eliminate the harsh reflected glare off surfaces such as wet roads, water, snow and glass. As a result, vision is superior to normal tinted lenses giving better contrast, reduced glare, 100% UV protection and enhanced comfort.

After age 40 most people can have trouble focussing on close objects due to a condition called presbyopia. This usually means you may require different prescriptions for different distances. Bifocal and Varifocal lenses are a convenient solution when this happens. The clear coating is applied to the front and rear surface of the lens and is most commonly known as a scratch resistant coating. This makes the lens more hard wearing to general wear & tear and less likely to scratch so prolonging the life of the lens.

BIFOCAL LENSES

Bifocal lenses are divided into two parts to allow for distance and near vision prescriptions in one lens. The lens has a line or segment which is visible. The upper half allows for distance viewing and the lower for reading. Options such as anti-reflection, thinning and reactor are available with bifocal lenses dependant on your prescription

VARIFOCAL LENSES

Varifocal lenses are ideal for all distances, as the lens corrects near, distance and in-between vision. This means one pair of glasses with Varifocal lenses can allow you to drive, use a computer, shop or read. Varifocal lenses have a great cosmetic appearance as there is no visible line or segment, unlike bifocal lenses. The prescription seamlessly changes across the lens allowing for more natural vision at all distances. Options such as anti-reflection, thinning and reactor are available with varifocal lenses dependant on your prescription Even Varifocals lenses cannot give 100% clear vision across all of the lens. Some parts of the lens, usually the sides, can have a ‘soft-focus’ which can be minimised with a better quality or tailor-made varifocal lens option. Ask in-store for our expert advice.
